Having won a DelCY award in 2007 in the category of "Additions," this project has been recognized as the best in the region by winning the National Association of the Remodeling Industry's Contractor of the Year award for 2008
Our clients own a stone house that dates back to 1805. Their interest was to raise the two existing rear additions and rebuild them while maintaining and refurbishing many of the features of the existing structure. The exterior stone work was modified for additional windows and extended. All the stone work was done with stone that was found on the property. The interior stone work was sand blasted and re-pointed.
To open the kitchen to the addition we used a hand hewn beam recovered from the barn restoration that was done a few years ago. The ultimate goal of maintaining and duplicating the original craftsmanship of the house meant that styles were blended and existing design elements were echoed in the addition.
