The owners of this 100+ year-old Wayne home came to us with some clear interests in mind: to preserve the character of their stone Victorian home, to make their master bath warmer in the winter, to improve the layout of the bath and to update their bath with warm earth-tone colors and rich natural-looking materials.
We began by combining the existing bath and an adjacent dressing room to provide a space that was large enough to accommodate additional closet space, a double bowl vanity, a 36” x 60” shower with seat, a make-up table and a 66” whirlpool tub.
Electric radiant heat was
installed in the floor which provides a comfortable, uniform heat.
As you will see from the photos the room was designed in keeping with the style of the home—including 5 panel doors and glass doorknobs. The trim and baseboard used are found throughout the
house. The client was interested in achieving a monochromatic look, so tile and Diana Reale marble were selected to enhance the Colortone finish of the custom maple vanity and linen cabinetry. The linen cabinet was designed to contain two hampers in the lower section and accommodate the Bose
CD player. The make-up area was deigned so a small television could be viewed from the whirlpool tub.
In this new space we needed to work around the three existing windows, an existing mirrored wall and an existing walk-in closet.
