New Kitchen for an Older House
The pictures below show the kitchen at a job that HUB Design/Build
completed. This area was actually part of a full house
remodel. The home itself was built in the early 60's. The room
directly ahead through the door is the dining room. |
|
At right is the finished product. We can see the pattern established
by the hi-hats in the ceiling. Their placement is such that
all work surfaces are lit with an even flow of light. To compliment
this lighting, under-cabinet accent lights are installed. The
floors have also been re-done. |
 |
|
The detail picture at right shows the under-cabinet lighting as well as the GE cook top that was newly installed. The backsplash is made of tumbled marble tiles and the pattern was chosen to promote an earthy, warm feeling in the kitchen. |
 |
|
This view shows the "U" shaped Corian counter and many of the
new cabinets. The work and cooking spaces were carefully planned
out in order to facilitate easy access to all appliances. |
 |
|
At right is a picture of the side-by-side refrigerator and microwave/oven
combination. The refrigerator is a GE Profile Performance Series,
Side-by-Side, with installed wood panels to match the rest of
the kitchen. One can see a small workspace between the refrigerator
and the ovens. This space also has dedicated under cabinet lighting
and a hi-hat above the area. |
 |
|
Here is the new eat-in area. We can see the dishwasher in this
picture, which is also a GE Profile series and which has a wood
panel mounted on the front to match the cabinets. That's a new
Marvin patio door behind the counter and the fireplace can just
be made out beyond the table. |
