Our clients own a condominium in a retirement community. They came to HUB Design/Build wishing to update their 20-plus-year-old kitchen, to improve its functionality and to enlarge the space enough to accommodate a desk area.

The HUB team accomplished this by expanding into the area occupied by the two-car garage and bumping out the kitchen window 24'' to make it flush with the face of the home. This also took better advantage of the abundance of natural light. The garage is now a single-car space. However, like many of the residents, our clients own only one vehicle.

The vinyl floor in the kitchen was replaced with pre-finished oak hardwood flooring. Our clients preferred a cook top with electric coil elements. They also requested that the base cabinets contain drawers wherever possible, since drawers require less bending to reach the contents.

As depicted in the photos, special attention was paid throughout the design process to providing our clients with storage located at a convenient and comfortable height.

This beautiful kitchen is an example of the fact that rearranging the flow of your existing living space can produce a much more livable environment than you ever thought possible. HUB Design/Build looks at all the alternatives to suggest a design that will best fit our clients' needs and desires.
